6 practical ways to use Zorvo Flip before and during a renovation

Zorvo Journal · Sep 2026 · ~5 min

Most renovation budgets don't blow out because of one big surprise. They blow out because nobody wrote the scope down room by room, so every quote, every conversation and every "while we're at it" starts from a different picture.

Flip is the tool I built for my own renovations to fix that. You walk the property, capture each room with photos and measurements, and Flip turns it into a room-by-room scope with a rough cost range. It isn't a final quote. It's the written plan everything else gets checked against.

Here are six ways to use it.

1. At the open home, before you make an offer

A renovator can look cheap until you add up the kitchen, the bathroom and the floors. Walk it with Flip on your phone, room by room, and you'll leave with a rough reno range before you decide what to offer. It's much easier to walk away at the open home than after settlement. Dedicated kitchen and bathroom cost tools are coming soon — for now, try the Flip walkthrough.

2. Comparing two quotes that don't line up

If one quote says $140k and another says $95k, the gap is usually in what's included, not the price of the same work. Build the scope in Flip first, then check each quote against the same line items. You'll quickly see who left out waterproofing, who assumed new plumbing, and who priced a different job.

3. Briefing trades with the same scope

Send every trade the same room-by-room list with photos and measurements attached. You get quotes you can actually compare, fewer site visits to re-explain the job, and a record of what was agreed.

4. Keeping the budget on track once work starts

The scope you wrote before you started doesn't disappear. With budget tracking unlocked, you can log quotes and payments as work gets done and track spend against the original plan, room by room, so drift shows up early instead of at the final invoice.

5. For buyers agents: a scope pack before the client falls in love

Clients buying a renovator often underestimate the work. Walking the property in Flip gives them a clear room-by-room picture and a rough range before the offer, which makes for better decisions and fewer surprises after settlement.

6. Renovating your own home: measurements with you at the shop

Painting a few rooms and not sure how much paint to buy? Walk each room with Flip on your phone and save the measurements, and they're already there when you get to the hardware store. There's no guessing at the counter, and no driving home because the spreadsheet is on the laptop. The same saved rooms work for flooring, tiles or skirting, and they're still there when you tackle the next room.

Try it

Flip is in soft launch. You can walk through a demo project in the browser to see how the scope and cost range work: https://www.zorvo.com.au/app?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=flip_uses#/demo

If you use it on a real property, I'd love blunt feedback on what's useful and what's missing. Just reply or get in touch through zorvo.com.au.
